Following the success of the stage version of Aida, Disney began planning a major live-action motion picture adaptation. As of 2007, Beyoncé Knowles was to star as the title role, alongside Christina Aguilera as Amneris, with a 2010 release date. However, no further reports of the adaptation’s production have surfaced since.
